The Taverna Eating and Drinking Society in partnership with Rob Groh of The Vine wine agency presents an evening featuring the wines of Joe and Lidia Bastianich. Wayne Young, an American Sommelier who has worked with Joe Bastianich and Mario Batali at New York restaurants Becco and Babbo and who is now the Wine Ambassador at Bastianich Winery will be here to dine, taste and discuss the great wines the Bastianich family produces in Fruili Italy. 2015 Sauvignon Blanc “Vini Orsone”
Fresh and dry with beautiful varietal aromas typical to sauvignon blanc. Tropical fruit, mint, tomato leaf, fennel with a great acidity to pair with the marinated vegetable

2015 Friulano “Vini Orsone”
Mineral, almond and flint. Bright and fresh with a long finish. A natural with a dish featuring shellfish and pork.
Sustainably sourced crab, parsley and crispy pancetta salad served with a luscious sweet corn soup served tableside by our cooks.
2014 La Mozza “Maremma Toscana”
Juicy, loaded with big ripe cherry. Soft texture on the palate and notes of fennel on the finish. Perfect with a meaty- tomato ragu.
Hand-crank extruded whole wheat duck egg Bigoli pasta served with McIntosh grass fed beef and Kawthoolei Farm Organics San Marzano tomato bolognese
2012 Vespa Rosso
Merlot blended with indigenous verietals a powerful, focused style…packs a punch. Crushed flowers, raspberries and tobacco. The finish is lengthy and polished. A great choice with a medium rare duck breast.
Rendered and seared breast of Muscovy duck with spiced plum gastrique and braised swiss chard and Shallot Hill butternut squash gnocchi
2013 Cave Spring Indian Summer Riesling
the peach flavour is reflected in the stone fruit nature of the wine. Great acidity to cut the creaminess of the zabaglione.
Warm grilled Ontario peaches with Vanilla genoise and a billowy zabaglione
